PCPursuit is a telecommunications service offered by US Sprint that allows you to connect your computer to other computers across the nation for very reasonable rates. PCPursuit accesses all the major cities and some of the not-so-major cities. It doesn’t reach everywhere, but it does reach enough places to warrant subscribing to.
PCPursuit offers two plans to the every-day Joe Blow....
1: Single Membership: 30 hours for 30 dollars
2: Family Membership: 60 hours for 50 dollars
Both are per month. You use PCPursuit by dialing a server (which is local to you), telling the server what city/state you want to call, then dialing out using their modem. Getting PCPursuit to work with FC is a little tricky, but it can be done by changing a few options and logging on a certain way. It’s a little complicated, but not as complicated as it sounds. And once you’ve got it, you’ve got it.
No, I’m not an employee of US Sprint! But, I do like the First Class system very much. With PCPursuit, people call places they wouldn’t otherwise, and by pushing this on the First Class systems, I hope to give First Class an extra “kick” towards expansion across the country.
Now, if you’re wondering, "Just WHERE does it and doesn’t it reach?" I can’t make a list, sorry. It would take too long. BUT, I have added city codes to Hank’s summary listing of FC BBSs and uploaded it. This file will tell you exactly which current FC BBSs PCPursuit will and will not access. I encourage everyone who may be interested in PCPursuit to download it. It’s a Microsoft Word document.
